I’m looking for a retreat agenda. I had a milestone birthday last January, and I promised myself I’d take myself on a retreat for a weekend. Well, that was almost 8 months ago, and I have not gotten my act together. Yeah, yeah, my self care remains at the bottom of my list.
But kudos to me for finally making steps in the retreat direction. I’m looking at places, and will probably head out one weekend in September. However, I’m a bit worried about heading out with absolutely nothing on my list of things to do. So I turn to you, my great and powerful friends…
Any fantastic retreat ideas, activities, suggestions? For those of you who gave gone on retreat by yourselves…what’s your best advice? Please help create a kick-ass retreat for me, and I’ll make sure I pass along what worked so you can have your own kick-ass retreat someday. I can create a pretty good agenda for any other kind of meeting, but I’d love some help creating a good agenda for my own retreat.
With gratitude,

Hi Barbara,
My own personal retreats always include three essential items in my toolkit – my camera, my journal/sketchbook, and a good book that inspires me. A retreat for me is all about taking time to reconnect and realign. With what makes me, me. Who I am, and who I want to be. What inspires me and what I’m passionate about. And what I want to focus my energy on creating in my life. I usually start by going on a photo safari in either a new place or a place I find continually inspiring and intriguing. Followed by people watching and pondering as the world goes by (usually at a cafe or a bar), and finally by spending some time in quiet solitude which allows me to make sense of my world without interruption or distraction and strategise a new plan of action. In between I’ll usually include a number of other activities that have no purpose other than to make my heart sing – just time to play and exist in my own skin really. I hope that helps in some way. I’m sure you’ll enjoy every minute of whatever you decide to do.
Best wishes,
Always.

Hey Zoe!
Thanks so much for your retreat advice. I’m heading out next weekend, and am intrigued by your idea of starting with a photo safari. I’ll definitely bring my camera, and will for sure be posting photos and other “a-ha’s” here after I return.
Thank you again for your thoughts, and I hope all is going great with you…
Barbara
